Day 1- Looking back and looking forward

So, after catching a pretty bad cold/sorethroat/sinusinfection, I developed laryngitis yesterday and could not speak at all today. Every year I try to spend some time at the beginning reflecting back on the past year and looking forward to the new one. Perhaps God knew I needed to do that this year and enforced it by rendering me silent. :) Nothing like losing your voice to make you super thankful for it! It is definitely something that I take for-granted everyday.

Big things that happened in 2012:
Bought a mini-van
Sold Rita, my 1997 CR-V
Celebrated being married for 6 years
Found a church to become part of
Moved to a new rental with more space
Alan continued school
I started year 2 working for CPTA
Found out I was pregnant
Deepened relationships with friends
Caleb turned 2, Alan 29, me 28
Travelled to Colorado, Arkansas, and Hawaii

Overall, 2012 was a good year of settling in to life, deepening marriage, learning about motherhood. It was a year of learning about daily grace and letting go of the little things.

What I'm looking forward to in 2013:
New baby!
Maternity leave
Alan completing another year at school
Possibly finding out where we may settle
Running again
Watching Caleb grow and change into a 3 year old
Attempting to learn thankfulness as a spiritual practice
Spending more time being intentional about relationships
Getting the house organized and ready for the baby
Attempting to live in the moment more

Here is a prayer to start the New Year, from Brennan Manning...

Lord Jesus, be for me the way to Abba Father. Be for me all my truth and all my life. Lead me into the crucified life, which is real life, and eternal. Lead me away from every lesser thing. By your love, renew my inner being so that I can receive Your love, and know it truly, and be Your love to others. Amen.

Abba, I belong to You.
