36 weeks!Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 36 weeks
Size of Baby: 18.5 inches, 6 pounds- the weight of a crenshaw melon
Total Weight Gain: 30 pounds
Maternity Clothes: Yes and yes. I'm wearing the same clothes to work every week! Can't wait to start wearing my old clothes again.
Gender: active baby boy
Food Cravings: dairy queen blizzards, doughnuts
What I miss: sleeping on my stomach
Sleep: still fairly comfortable, but having work meetings at 7 am sure helps me fall asleep quicker the next night- I've been going to bed between 9:30 and 10:00 (I haven't gone to bed regularly that early in years!)
Symptoms: hot flashes, acid reflux, swelling in my feet and hands
Best Moment of the Week: My dear husband has been helping out so much around the house. I appreciate him tremendously!
What I'm Looking Forward to: Meeting my little baby boy- I'm starting to really get excited to see what he is like!

08.14.10- Day 224

34 weeks!
Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 34 weeks
Size of Baby: 18 inches, 4.75 pounds- the weight of a cantaloupe (although the midwife thought he was closer to 4 pounds)
Total Weight Gain: 27 pounds
Maternity Clothes: Yes and yes. Is there something wrong when your maternity clothes are starting to get tight?!
Gender: active baby boy
Food Cravings: sweets, doughnuts, berries, milk, cereal
What I miss: exercise (real exercise- not just walking or doing prenatal yoga)
Sleep: sleeping okay, any sleep problems seem to be related to overthinking treatment for my students rather than pregnancy related problems
Symptoms: hot, sweating more often- maybe it's just the pregnant "glow," calf cramps at night
Best Moment of the Week: finding out this morning that HR finally has the contracts ready to go for me and the woman I am job sharing with!
What I'm Looking Forward to: seeing my sweet baby's face and sleeping on my stomach :)

PS- I was looking back at pictures of before I was pregnant and I don't even recognize myself! I thought that I wasn't really that swollen or anything- but man I looked different then! haha

08.12.10- Day 222

Man oh man- the start of school is going well, but it is busy! It has also be incredibly stretching for me so far as I have several students that need intensive accomodations and adaptations to access their school environment. Most of the kiddos I had last year that used wheelchairs also had cognitive impairments that placed them in a special classroom for children unable to be mainstreamed in school. This year, I have several kiddos that are perfect cognitively, but need massive accomodations in all areas of the school to have as much independence and participation as possible! This is something that I love about my job though: so much problem solving and hardwork with the reward of making a substantial difference in the life of a child! I'm thankful that I get to return to this work on a part time basis after having my child. I still have so much to learn and it's something that I love!

On another note: I just had my 34 week appointment today (picture to come when Alan isn't working in a few days). Baby is growing well, I'm measuring right on with all the measurements that they do, and the baby is in a good position. The most exciting thing during the appointment is that when I asked if the nurse midwife knew how big the baby was, she predicted about 4 pounds. She said that she didn't think baby Hunt was going to be a huge baby like I've feared (due to the track record of his father and grandfather!) Who knows for sure, but it was a relief! I have hope!

08.08.10- Day 218

Several items to post on today:

My garden- I've been meaning to post on it all summer, but it hasn't really been a priority (imagine that!) We've had a nice supply of letuce, cilantro, squash, and sugar snap peas so far. We're still waiting on the tomatoes and peppers. This is my first attempt at square foot gardening. I'm not sure what I think, but I definitely like having raised beds!

Updates on the nursery:The stars over the crib will have the baby's name on them.I painted the canvases a few days ago...
The changing table is still awaiting more decoration and perhaps a shelf over it for supplies.
It's all coming together!!!!! Can't believe there are less than 7 weeks to go!
And finally.... Happy Birthday to my dear husband, Alan! I can't imagine my life without him, so I'm incredibly thankful that he was born 27 years ago today! He is truly my best friend and I hope to have 27*3 more years with him! He is going to be the most awesome dad ever, and he's already shown himself an amazing husband! I love you so much babe!

8.01.2010

08.01.10- Day 211

32 weeks!
Pregnancy Highlights
How Far Along: 32 weeks
Size of Baby: 16.7 inches, 3.75 pounds- the weight of a large jicama
Total Weight Gain: 25 pounds
Maternity Clothes: Yep! I even bought a gown and robe for the hospital this week! Still need to get nursing camis/bras.
Gender: active baby boy
Food Cravings: sweets, mac and cheese (the yellow boxed kind- I know...), cereal, milk
What I miss: thoracic rotation (you literally can't rotate when you get this big).
Sleep: working on getting back into the school schedule, I'm waking up about 1x each night, but having trouble falling asleep- too much stuff to think about!
Symptoms: hot, a little thoracic pain
Best Moment of the Week: Going to Redwood National Park on our "babymoon" last week! It was so fun and relaxing. I totally recommend getting away with your spouse before everything goes crazy! Also- seeing my dear husband really start to get ready for baby. He is playing his guitar for him everyday. And a few days ago I was looking for him and found him in the nursery sitting on the floor and praying for our little guy! He is going to be such a fabulous dad!
What I'm Looking Forward to: Getting started with the school year! I know it's not really baby related, but I have so many ideas for this year that I want to get as many things up and running as possible before I go on maternity leave.
