Day 73- Live Open Project

I'm starting a project. It's something that God has been brewing in my soul for a while now. I'm calling it the "Live Open Project". Basically, I am going to try to live with openness in all the different aspects of my life. Openness in friendship, with possessions, with time. I am going to intentionally seek out ways to live openly, such as playing in the front yard with Caleb so we'll have more chance of running into neighbors or smiling at the cashier and asking how she is or spending an extra 10 minutes talking with an older lady in the dressing room at the community center after work or sending a care package to friends overseas. I want to love all people openly. I'm going to try to see them as Jesus does. That's the main reason I need to stay open: because I know that in order to love these people, I need to allow Christ's love to move through my hands and out of my mouth and walk through my feet. I also want to stay open to the needs of the world. Those in my community and those on different continents. I want to ask myself- is there anything I can do to meet this need?

I offer to you to join in this project! I'm going to try to share stories, even small ones of ways I'm changing through this process.

Here's a quote from Missional Moms, a book I'm reading with some friends:
"one of the challenges of telling stories of people in hindsight is that we can become daunted by the eventual outcomes without realizing that which drove the story forward were small acts of obedience."

God of Justice by Tim Hughes

God of Justice, Savior to all
Came to rescue the weak and the poor
Chose to serve and not be served

Jesus, You have called us
Freely we've received
Now freely we will give

We must go, live to feed the hungry
Stand beside the broken, we must go
Stepping forward, keep us from just singing
Move us into action, we must go

To act justly everyday
Loving mercy in every way
Walking humbly before You God

You have shown us what You require
Freely we've received
Now freely we will give

We must go, live to feed the hungry
Stand beside the broken, we must go
Stepping forward, keep us from just singing
Move us into action, we must go

Fill us up and send us out, fill us up and send us out
Fill us up, send us out Lord
Fill us up and send us out, fill us up and send us out
Fill us up and send us out Lord

Fill us up and send us out, fill us up and send us out
Fill us up, send us out Lord
Fill us up, send us out, You fill us up and You send us out
Fill us up, send us out Lord, yeah

Acting justly, loving mercy
We must go, we must go
To the broken and the hurting
We must go, we must go

We must go, live to feed the hungry
Stand beside the broken, we must go
Stepping forward, keep us from just singing
Move us into action, we must go, must go

Fill us up and You send us out, yeah
Heaven open
